About Family Assistance Ministries (FAM): FAM is an interfaith non-profit organization whose mission is to assist those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, and personalized supportive counsel and aid; helping clients bridge the gap from dependency to self-sufficiency.
Reports to: Resource Manager
Position Summary: You will play a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaged volunteer community within FAM. You will be responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteers, ensuring a seamless and rewarding experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting all volunteer program activities.
Develop and lead volunteer recruiting, orientation, and training to ensure volunteers are well-equipped and prepared for their roles.
Actively seek out potential volunteers through online platform and community outreach.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with volunteers through various platforms by providing updates, showing appreciation, and addressing inquiries promptly.
Screen and interview potential volunteers to ensure alignment with organizational values and objectives.
Collect volunteer information, availability, skills, and ensure the database is up to date.
Complete necessary background checks and reference verifications in compliance with California regulations.
Support the warehouse team on the floor and conduct tours as needed.
Conduct comprehensive orientation sessions for new volunteers and provide ongoing training opportunities to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Maintain an organized schedule for shifts, assignments, and events.
Coordinate and support planning and execution of volunteer appreciation activities.
Collaborate with other departments to align volunteer efforts with the organizational goals and initiatives.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to learn and be proficient in volunteer management software and other relevant tools.
Ability to work with volunteers, collaborate effectively with the team, and cross-functional teams.
Ability to exercise sound judgment with minimal direction/guidance.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with ability to manage a diverse group of volunteers.
Ability to prioritize safety and well-being of volunteers through knowledge or education of safety protocols.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to research and pitch volunteer opportunities using various channels e.g., email, phone or in person.
Ability to drive to events and support the events team (occasionally).
Education and/or Experience
College degree preferred or equivalent volunteer or professional experience.
Proficient in using VOMO volunteer software is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Previous experience in volunteer management, event planning, or community engagement is preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday / 8:30 am – 5 pm. Occasional evenings and/or weekends for off-site events is required.
Job Types: Full-time
Pay Range: $25 – $27 per hour
