About Family Assistance Ministries (FAM): FAM is an interfaith non-profit organization whose mission is to assist those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, and personalized supportive counsel and aid; helping clients bridge the gap from dependency to self-sufficiency. 

Reports to: Operations Manager 

Position Summary: The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for general warehouse work and driving. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Carry out and model best safety practices while in the warehouse as well as while operating warehouse equipment. 

  • Ability to lead a diverse group of volunteers and work collaboratively with staff.  

  • Safely drive truck / van to pick up or drop off donations from stores, organizations and individuals in a timely manner. 

  • Receive donated food; weigh and record receipt of food, sort and eliminate food items.  

  • Unload, sort, and properly store products in designated areas.  

  • Works well independently with minimum supervision. 

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing demands. 

  • Positive attitude and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. 

  • Communicate effectively, organize, and take initiative. 

  • Follow instructions, including food safety guidelines. 

  • Complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly. 

  • Assure cleanliness of equipment and cleaning the warehouse. 

 Skills and Abilities 

  •  Ability to obtain a safe food handling certificate. 

  • Ability to work effectively with the team. 

Physical Demands 

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs  

  • Regularly required to stand, move around the warehouse, stoop, reach, use hands and bending. 

Education and/or Experience  

  • High school diploma or equivalent education. 

  • 6 months to 1 year experience preferred. 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV driving record. 

  • Basic computer skills: E-mail, Internet, basic typing skills for texting and entering timesheets.

Work Schedule: Varies depending on full-time or part-time status. 

  • 8 hour shift 

  • Monday to Friday 

  • Weekends as needed 

Job Types: Full-time and Part-time 

Pay Range: $18 - $20/hour
